A Fraction of God

We’re a fraction of what we could be

A fraction of God

Yes, we’re humans, you and me, he and she

Humans are nothing much of a number

In this brotherhood of sinners we call humanity

But what we indeed are is a fraction of what we could be

Yes, my brothers and sisters, we say we’re humans

Because we think and hope, dream and love

And we kill ourselves, which is a human thing

A weakness we have, the killing, I mean

Therefore, everything we do is what makes us be

A fraction of what we could be

Why?

Because when we think, we live in the absurd

When we hope, we live in miracles

When we dream, we live in mirages

When we love, we live on a roller coaster of feelings

Which includes hate, which is a fraction of love

But then, brothers and sisters, contradictory as we are

We also study the soul of man, which is a fraction of God

We study the soul of man when we pray and when we do what we do

Then, we live the mystery of Creation

And so, in our pilgrimage through this life, short or long

I beg you to persist in thinking, persist in hoping

Persist in dreaming and loving. Persist in praying

No matter if we live in the absurd, or in miracles, or mirages

No matter if we live in a roller coaster of feelings

We must persist in studying the soul of man

Because if we clear the mystery, the mystery of Creation

We’ll cease to be a fraction of what we could be

And instead we could become gods

My brothers and sisters, we could become gods

This was the very idea in the beginning of Creation

To be the owners of our souls, lords of our destiny

And yet, we are what we are, and we don’t know it yet

Or we know it, and we don’t accept it

Because what we are, my brothers and sisters, is a fraction of God.
