The Illiterate Man

The Book of Nature

Man knows Not how to read it

The Book, however, is the Future

Nature’s handwritten Signature

Shapes every Tree

How to shape a Tree, Man does not Know

Yes, he does, however, Spell quite well

The Book of Garbage

The Illiterate Man bookmarks every Page

Of the Book of Garbage

Yet, how to re-create Man

Transform him in a Literate Man

Man knows Not how

Man knows Not the Meaning

Of the Book

Written by Nature before his eyes

Illiterate by Nature

Man persists in mutilating his kin and subsists

Injuring the Earth and Self

Persists in doing what he should Not

Man does not know the Natural Alphabet

Every Tree turned, and every Root burned

Every flower trashed is a mute Voice

Is a Letter of Nature addressed to Man

Condemning Man

Yet the Illiterate Man never grew

To read this Letter, never grew

To become wiser, never knew

To read the Letters of Nature

That spell the Words of his Future

And so, Man is Lost fumbling through the Pages

Of the Book of Nature

He doesn’t find his Future

Because the Book of Nature is missing a Page

A missing Page, torn apart with Rage

Which is Man, the Illiterate Man, the missing Page.
