Capricious River
Inspirational and wisdom-stirring parable as well as a spiritual journey
Capricious River is an inspirational and wisdom-stirring parable as well as a spiritual journey. It describes, in striking scenarios, the unrelenting quest for the self.
A field of diamonds shines in a remote corner of South America. An obscure Native legend places the treasure alongside the banks of an elusive river somewhere in the Amazon rainforest. Years earlier, the Nazi German government had gotten information on the diamonds and, seeking unorthodox means to continue financing the war, had sent one secretive expedition with tragic results. So, forty years later, Werner Mann, 61, and Ariel Gimmel, 20, two friends of diverse pasts, conflicting presents, and improbable futures, join forces on their quest to find it. Their journey takes them through situations and landscapes frequently visited in dreams, nightmares and through pure love, ghosts, and crime.
Meanwhile, in the city, María Rosa, a beauty anxiously seeking news from her friends, falls prey to a sexual predator.
And so, if found, the treasure will sparkle differently for each of them.
