Existential Dilemma

Time exists, and within time, life exists, and then we exist

And within these stages through the ages, strife strikes life

With the past, present, and future of which no one is sure

Despite this, the world spins and swirls and continues to whirl

And so, the average people live locked in a cage as they age

And no one can stop the reel. No one can break the seal

Locked in a cage is how I feel, and no one can break the seal

I wonder if we’ll live tomorrow in a future we must borrow

Borrow and endure a future no one ensures. That’s for sure

Like sand sifts through our hands, so time sifts through like sand

And as the present fades like a mirage, the future dawns as we age

Locked in a cage, living in a mirage until the end, but then time bends

Time bends, my friends, and there is no end because time bends

In my case, the past remains present in my face, something I must face

Alas! The folly of my past nurtured the folly of my present, and so

I hope that the folly of my present will nurture the jolly of my future

Because I’m tired of living this strife, time after time, and this strife

Of becoming successful, failed, or average, locked in a cage

But I know that we reap what we sow, and yet, I wonder how

Could I ever bring closure to my past, rushing into my future in a blast?
