Things We Cannot Control

We know that there are four things we have no control over:

Who are our parents

Where we are born

The acts of God

Fortuity events

We can control everything else if we have the chance or the will. Or can't we?

Past, present, and future: It's a common belief that we cannot control the past, but it's all relative since we live in the present. So, because the past was once present, we had the chance to change it, and we didn't because we didn't know how or didn't have the will, although we have control of both our knowledge and will. And yes, we may not be able to control the past, but we can doubtless change it at our whim for whatever convenient reason. Remember: Who controls the past control the future. Who controls the present controls the past." So, the present is the steering wheel in this quest. And we're not in 1984, but in 2024.

People. We can control people's thoughts, beliefs, and behaviour. The history of humanity is full of examples.

Health: We can control health to a certain point.

We can control our faith, hopes, and emotions, can't we? And if we can do it on our own, we can do it, of course, with those of others.

Reality: We can control reality and all its manifestations. For centuries, philosophers have dedicated their lives to studying this phenomenon, which politicians aptly handle.

Can we control our thoughts? We can control our emotions, but what about our thoughts and dreams? Can we control what we dream?

Further to the above, we cannot control:

Fate.

Our impulses.

Our urges.

Our imagination.

The boundaries of ignorance.

The passing of time,

The weather or the seasons, not yet.

We cannot control life or death.

We cannot control the mechanics of Earth in space and time.

And so, what do you think? What else can we control or can't control, and moving further, what should we control or shouldn't control?

Sal Godoij

Sal is a Canadian writer, philosopher, poet, and indie publisher, author of a thought-provoking narrative that contains mystical messages. Sal believes in miracles, which he claims have accentuated his life, so many of his stories reflect these portents. Sal sustains that we all have a message to divulge in this life. Thus, he encourages us to make our voice heard, firstly in our inner self, then on to our neighbours, and henceforward into the universe.
