No Exit Door

“Love thy neighbour like thyself.”

“Forgive thy enemies.”

Saith the Lord Himself

Why, then, the armies?

Twenty-one centuries and more

No Exit door

Twenty-one armies and more

No Exit door

No Exit to the Kingdom

The Kingdom of Freedom

Hear what the Verb saith

It saith: "Why do you doubt, oh you men of little faith?"

Have no fears. the Lord is near. Hold your tears

Pray for those who prosecute thee

And The Word will make you free

Yet, twenty-and-one centuries later

We persist in challenging the Creator

Why does it take us too much labour

To love our neighbour?

Twenty-one centuries and more

No Exit door

Twenty-one armies and more

And we can't forgive our enemies

Yes, it's tough to learn a lesson or two

It's hard to love, but it's harder to hate

We must mull over that, too

It might not be too late to reverse our fate

Yet we say it's not our call

It's not our call to break the wall

The wall that confines our minds to "I" and "mine."

That's the cause of our pains

"I" and "mine" keep us always in the mood

In the mood for war

Forward, but there is nothing ahead, no more

No Exit door

Only the wall that holds us in black or white

And never allows us to know

When it's dark or when it's bright

When we're wrong or when we're right.
